R&D Director

Description

Comm-IT is looking for an experienced R&D Director to lead and grow one of our engineering groups.

In this role, you'll drive technical strategy, lead engineering managers and teams, and play a key role in shaping our products, architecture and engineering culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor Team Leads and engineering managers.
• Define the technical vision and influence key architectural decisions.
• Own delivery, quality, execution and timelines across multiple projects.
• Drive engineering processes and operational excellence.
• Develop and mentor employees, supporting their professional growth.
• Act as the highest technical escalation point within the group.
• Work closely with executive leadership and report directly to the CEO.

Requirements

Requirements

• 7+ years of engineering management experience, including 3+ years managing Team Leads and/or Group Leads.
• Proven track record of delivering complex software products from concept to production.
• Strong leadership skills with a people-first, data-driven approach.
• 7+ years of hands-on full stack development experience with Node.js and/or Python.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems and system design.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Vast experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
